Transformers Origin Movie In The Works?

Deadline has reported that two of the writers from Marvel’s Ant-Man have joined the writer’s room for the Transformers franchise. The report says:

I’m hearing that one of the ideas in the works has a working title of Transformers One, and that it is more or less an origins story that takes place on Cybertron, the planet where the good guy and bad guy robots hail from. Those talks originated with rights holder Hasbro. I’d also heard that this might be an animated feature, but that Barrer & Ferrari are also going to the writer’s room with the expectation they’ll write a live action Transformers movie, as well. Paramount insiders said that they haven’t gotten that far on the specific projects, but I am told this is the plan. A Cybertron movie sounds like fertile ground for a feature, to me.

A common criticism of the Transformers movies has been that they have too much of a focus on the human element, so a film completely on Cybertron would subvert all expectations based on what we’ve seen so far. Plus, it would allow for even more outlandish and out there designs, and would essentially be a war-time film set on an alien planet. I am an unapologetic Transformers fan, so I’m ecstatic at this possibility. However, I’ll wait for more concrete news to drop before predicting the future of the franchise. Michael Bay is still planning on making a fifth Transformers film once he’s completed his Benghazi film, 13 Hours, and it’s possible this origin releases after that.

Thoughts on a Transformers film set solely on Cybertron?
