Incredible ‘Incredibles 2’ News: Brad Bird Announces Involvement

Posted in The Screening Room by - April 09, 2015

In a session with NPR’s ‘Ask Me Another’ the beloved writer, director, animator, killer of martyr giants, and owner of our heart strings Brad Bird mentioned that he is working on the script for The Incredibles 2. Given his history at Pixar it would be surprising if he weren’t the one plotting out the sequel to the oscar winning animated film, but it’s still nice to get confirmation that one of the most beloved Pixar properties is still being handled by Bird. After his amazing live action debut directing Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol he’s been working on the Tomorrowland film for Disney, a project I can only assume is an attempt to instill the outdated area of Disneyland with some magic again now that every kid in the park has technology more impressive than the cold war era vision of the future Walt created, in their pockets.

His interview with NPR only briefly touches on the followup to The Incredibles, but it’s the first time we’ve gotten any confirmation that Brad Bird is directly involved. We likely will have to wait a while for more news on the sequel, what with Tomorrowland in the way, but put the news in that little pocket in your heart that you open up when you watch gigantic robots die for our own god forsaken lives, and keep the fire burning.
