‘Daredevil’ Renewed for Season 2

Posted in The Screening Room by - April 22, 2015

EW has reported that the Marvel/Netflix hit, Daredevil, has been renewed for Season 2. Although, it appears that the showrunners are changing.

But there’s a twist: EW can exclusively report that showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus) is stepping down from the series. Instead, writers Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy)—who worked closely with DeKnight and creator Drew Goddard in the first season—will both serve as the showrunners for season two.

The second season is scheduled for release in 2016, and from the first season, I can assume they focus more on the lingering questions brought on by Daredevil’s master, Stick, in his lone episode. The first season was far darker and more engaging than I could have imagined, and I hope the new showrunners keep the show headed in a positive direction, while avoiding some of the plots I didn’t care for (Karen’s investigation, anyone?).
