In some of the more surprising television news, Syfy (with David Goyer at the helm) will be developing a series based on Superman’s homeworld, Krypton. From what I can tell, it’s a similar premise to the Fox hit, Gotham, in the sense that it is a prequel show for one of DC’s biggest characters. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, stating:

From Warner Horizon Television and DC Comics, Krypton takes place years before the Superman legend we know, when the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This drama, which is in development, follows the Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.

We’re still waiting on casting news, but this is definitely an interesting turn of events. I may actually have a reason to watch Syfy now.
