Mockumentary March: It’s Pseudo-Reality

Posted in The Screening Room by - March 01, 2016

Long before Sacha Baron Cohen gave us Bruno and Borat, filmmakers had been creating fictional documentaries. Aptly deemed “mockumentaries” they span the gamut from alternate history (C.S.A.) to Bigfoot (Legend of Boggy Creek) to surfing penguins (Surf’s Up). It’s an interesting sub-genre of documentary film that allows filmmakers to explore topics in novel and unique ways that vanilla documentaries would not. So join us won’t you as we take a look at some funny, scary, and thought provoking mockumentaries.
