Cast Revealed for ‘Captain America: Civil War’, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man joins the Avengers

Marvel released a press release today that broke down exactly who is returning and appearing in the third installment of Captain America. Civil War will not only be featuring many familiar faces, but it also integrates Ant-Man (who’s own film is about to release) into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The plot synopsis from the release is as follows:

Captain America: Civil War picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

The massive cast includes: Chris Evans (Captain America), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlet Johansson (Black Widow), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man).

Also debuting will be Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther and Daniel Bruh’s Baron Zemo. Frank Grillo (Crossbones) is returning from Winter Soldier, and Martin Freeman has been cast in an unknown role. Surprisingly, William Hurt is also being brought back to reprise his role as General “Thunderbolt” Ross from The Incredible Hulk. Also, Spider-Man should be making his MCU debut in Civil War as well. With such a cast, Civil War looks to basically be an Avengers film, which is far from a bad thing.

Captain America: Civil War releases May 6, 2016.
