Could Asa Butterfield be the next Spider-Man?

Latino Review has reported (although it is still unconfirmed) that Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game and Hugo) has been cast as the MCU‘s Spider-Man. They report:

We’ve been sitting on this information since Friday but can confirm now, that his reps and Marvel are under negotiations.

Our sources on the ground don’t yet have details of the scope of the new Peter Parker role, but Marvel has said earlier in the year that the character would debut in next springs Captain America: Civil War, which is currently in production.

Although I wasn’t a huge fan of either of Butterfield’s previous big movies, as an actor, he seems fine enough, but this role will be different from what he’s done previously. I am interested to see if he manages to keep the witty nature of Spider-Man in his interpretation of the character. Marvel’s casting has been pretty great so far, so I guess we’ll have to wait until Captain America: Civil War to see his take on the iconic superhero.

What do you think of the casting news?
