‘The Gunman’ International Trailer: Sean Penn is Jacked

Posted in The Screening Room by - January 20, 2015

Keeping the trend of aging stars becoming full blown action heroes, Sean Penn will be starring in this year’s The Gunman directed by Taken director, Pierre Morel. Whether or not this film will have the same career altering path the original Taken had with Liam Neeson has yet to be seen.

It’s based on a novel by French novelist Jean-Patrick Manchette. Admittedly, I had no idea who that was prior to viewing this trailer, but if it piques your interest, you now know where to look.

The trailer is currently on YouTube

While this probably won’t lead to any Oscars, I have to admit, it looks pretty fun. Seeing Sean Penn do something a bit different than his usual roles will be refreshing, and it looks to have some cool set pieces as well.

The supporting cast also looks quite good as it includes Javier BardemRay Winstone, and Idris Elba. It seems we have a solid cast and a director with a track record for good action which will hopefully lead to an exciting romp.

The Gunman is expected in theater on March 20, 2015.
